No quilting photos as I have had to take a break. Life has really happened in our neck of the woods these past two weeks but I am happy to say, things are starting to get somewhat normal.
Son in law Joe was hospitalized with a blood clot in his chest. Long involved story but it was a congenital condition that required surgery to remove, then an additional surgery to remove the rib from that side of his chest. Then, he developed a hematoma which required another procedure to install a drain. Needless to say, this left us all scrabbling to make sure the grand kids were taken care of and that we could help our daughter as much as possible. The combined efforts of Joe's family and ours, kept kids safe and secure. He is home now, recovering slowly but surely and they are trying to get life back to normal a bit at a time. He will be on blood thinners for a long time, as well as having a projected long recovery process but, we are giving thanks for a good outcome.
I went ahead with my cataract surgery last Wed. It went very well and things looked good until sometime over the weekend. My night and far vision are awful. A post op trip to the surgeon confirmed what I already knew, the lens had slipped and will require them to redo it. This leaves me with the choice of doing it next or doing the left eye first. I think at this point we are going to do the redo first. The vision in this eye is now not very good and I would like to have at least one eye at a time in good working order. I do have confidence that it will work second time around...........not sure why, but I am OK with this. It was like a punch in the stomach at first, then talking with my great white hunter and my daughter has made me just want to move on. So Oct. 28, we try again. Got to come up with something cool to decorate my eye patch with for Halloween!!!
During the past two weeks, I have had enormous support from my blogging friends. Amelia, Granny Lyn and Finn have been there sending prayers and good wishes from the very beginning. I can not tell you how very much this has meant for all of us. I am truly blessed and amazed at the gifts this blog has given me.
I got up this morning determined to face the day with a positive attitude and get on with life. My near vision is very good so hope to find my self back with my Jewel Box quilt and getting a start on some Christmas projects. Life is good again in AZ!

Love you dear friend in Arizona. Here is hoping the re-do will be perfect and you will be able to see with no problems at all.
Oh my, so sorry to hear about Joe. My prayers are with him for safe, swift recovery. I know those grands are loved and well cared for as their dad recovers from this.
Sorry to hear you had the issue with the lens. I know you are right that the second surgery will correct things. Hope it turns out like my MIL....she really just needs reading glasses after wearing glasses all her life. You will be in my thoughts and prayers too.
Life has been very busy around my house too. Oct. 10 is my departure date.
Take care!
When Life takes over, all you can do is hang on and ride the waves! I'm so glad we could be here for you, because that's all we can do.
Redoing the first eye, first, is a smart idea, that will leave the other one steady so you don't run into the walls, tee hee (don't ask how I know that)
Joe has been well taken care of, and now it's your turn.
Seems everyone is getting hit hard this season - sorry that your family got into that group - but glad for the projected good outcome.
Our best thoughts for you and the family - hang in there - good eyesight is on its way.
Sorry to hear of your family health problems. Glad Joe is doing better and hope his recovery goes switfly along.
Hope you will do well with your eye surgery, too.
Oh my! I'm sorry to hear all of this! I do pray that all things get better. Do take it easy and remember stress can really get you down too.
I'm sending love and prayers to you and your family. Take care.

Thank goodness that you can sew up close. Sewing always helps bring some calm and peace in my life. I am so sorry about the first surgery, but this is not all that uncommon and I will be praying that all goes well the second time around. Praying for your son-in-law too - so scary.
Wishing you the very best. I had a partial knee done a couple years ago, had problems and should have had it redone immediately. Here I am still limping along. This "older" age is not all golden, huh? Sound like Joe has great family support which is so important.
