Quilts at Last!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! There is finally quilt content on Random Stitches!

Not by the owner of the blog, however, who is still in somewhat of a quilting slump at the moment. I think quilts, but I am NOT making quilts. Someday soon..........

This special little tree is a gift from my friend Finn. She enclosed it with the Orphan Train give away quilt that I won. It will have a very special place in my home. Colin thought it was wonderful, especially after he discovered that it had two little rings on the back to hang it with. It is wonderfully hand quilted.

Here is my Orphan Train prize for anyone that has not seen it on Finn's blog. Now this is not your everyday quilt and I love it. It is named "Convergence" and is lovingly hand quilted also. It is bright and unexpected............and all MINE! Thanks again, Ebby.

This is what I did on our RV trip. I sewed strips the week before we went and worked on it on the way there and on the way home. (between getting snacks and drinks for the kids on the road). I have given notice to anyone getting even close to this one, this is MINE and will NOT leave my house for another home. I did promise to make one for DDIL, but AFTER I make this one. It is going well, I could not tell you how to increase because I am doing it when it feels right but so far so good.

That is a darling little wall hanging. I have made crochet rugs before and just love the feel of them. Yours looks very pretty the way the dark contrasts with the light colors. Great job!

PERFECT! PERFECT! PERFECT! That's the whole idea...the increasing comes as it feels "right" and when the rug needs it. You get to where you "just know", don't you???*VBS*

It looks gorgeous and I'm so thrilled that you will soon have the oval rug of your childhood, no amount of money can buy that!!!!
Biggest of big hugs, Finn

Your rug is certainly growing...have you been giving it vitamins or better yet you have been taking them. You will know when the time is right to say enough is enough.

Hae a fun weekend...cool maybe, huh...yes I know if you stay in the house under the AC and fans.

Love the quilt. Love the rug. I wonder how long you will actually keep it before some endearing family member talks you out of it?

I have always wanted to make a rug like that. What width strip and what size hook are you using? I have heard you are supposed to just increase when it doesn't lay flat, no rhyme or reason for it.

I love that rug! If only we had a tutorial on making one. (hint hint) The quilts are great too. I love that little one.

I did some backtracking on your blog and found Finn's tutorial on making a rug. Now I wish I knew how to crochet!

I am drooling over those quilts, and it makes me want to run to my machine and get going!!! I feel like such a lazy ol' granny, my African Star is just laying there, waiting for me, while I play with those scrappy ol strips. I love Love LOVE your rug. I love the way you made the rings, like mine, you made some sense of the scrappiness... "awe" some!
