Will the REAL Me, Please Stand Up.

I am pretty much a vanilla person. My house has white walls and beige carpet. Most of my window coverings are off white or beige. My clothes and jewelry are very conservative. The gal who cuts my hair gets very frustrated with me because I have gotten the same haircut forever. She keeps trying to talk me into something more "trendy". I don't want to stand out in a crowd, vanilla, white cotton underwear is who I am.

So please explain this to me.

This is my Super Bowl Bonnie Hunter bargello top. Yeah, I know the Super Bowl was a long time ago but when you don't start something until after it is all over, you are late and that is me too. I am not a BOM or a Hour a Day or even a Quilt a Month person. It's not when I do it, just that I finally do it!

This is NOT a quilt that I would display in my home but I love every bright color in there. There are over 47 strips in the first strip set and each one was different so there are well over 60 bright fabrics in this, all from my stash. Now all fabric makes me happy but the bright ones reach out and say, "You just have to take us home, NOW!" Most of the time I have NO idea what I would do with such fabric and I wait until I find a fat quarter or a remnant but I have a nice box labeled "brights".

I think in my past life, if you believe in such a thing, I was a painter. I painted large canvas's with lots of bright swirls of paint. I don't think I was very successful at it though, and opted to be vanilla in this life.

I often mention that quilting for me is a journey. Well, this one was no exception. I thought a lot about what this quilt said about me, and who I am. I love color, lots of bright, loud color. I just don't quite know what to do with it though so it comes out in my quilts and makes me happy. Next quilt will be vanilla to make the other side of me happy too.

What were you in your past life?

Don't know about being anyone previously.

The quilt is so happy looking with all the bright colors.

I am like you in the fact that I am not a BOM - quilt in a day - or whatever. I had enough deadline type stuff when I was in the workforce...now I want to quilt if I want to and when I want to. That is just me - whatever others want to do is fine with me.

Sometimes I often wonder if we've all once walked this earth before...each time taking a few extra steps further into the beyond.

Your bargello is really pretty. I love those bright colors.

My house and the colors in it are all very neutral and "vanilla" too. I like it that way because then any quilt I make will look OK.

Oh I LOVE all those colors! You need to send Bonnie a picture to put in her gallery! I want to do one next time I need a leaders/enders project!

Very nice Norma. Will you border?

Hi Norma, I think that your bargello is the happiest quilt I've ever seen on your blog! It is just sensational. Reminds me of a birthday party....lots of happy, fun, joyful colors, like confetti *VBS*
I'm reasonably sure, having witnessed many gardens and sunsets, children and baby furries in my 67 years, that God just isn't a vanilla person at heart either.
Crayola got it right when they upped the number of crayons they put in a box. How can we be 'just' an eight crayon creators???
Leaving lots of multicolor hugs, Finn

In my prior life, I was a prairie woman or maybe just a pioneer woman as I love trees so much. I'm also a white cotton underware lady but have always loved wearing bright colors for every one to see. I hate white walls in my home. They make me think hospital. I'm not a deadline or quanity person either. I think it is probably related to the fact I'm now retired from those deadlines and such. I do love your bight and beautiful quilt. Such fun!

In a prior life, actually this one, I was a corporate workaholic who put in 60 to 70 hours a week.

I, too, had everything vanilla.

I'm in the process of collecting shades of blue paint. I'm going to paint the focus wall in my play room variegated shades that go from white through every shade of blue to black.

I can hardly wait to see who I am in a year or two.

And what a beautiful quilt. I could hear your heart singing. :)

I love you quilt, I am a very bright person; my quilts aren't alway bright colors but my clothes are most of the time very bright.
