TADAAAA!!

My Bubba Boy, Colin's rug is finished except to finish the end off. Next time I will remember to mark where the new rounds start so I know WHERE to finish. It is ready to go to his room to be a rock or a island or a boat or who knows what else a five year old can dream up! Not perfect but for a first effort, I am pleased and I had a ball with making this. I am definitely addicted to this. "Hello, my name is Norma and I am not only addicted to fabric, I am now addicted to cutting it into tiny strips, and sewing them by hand together." Guess I could have worse problems!

I did this one "My Way" and unlike Lyn at Just Granny's, never did follow Finn's advice to sew the strips on the sewing machine. So, every strip in this 32 inch beauty is hand sewn to the next one. That is me, doing things the hard way, but it is MY way and got the job done. I can hardly wait to start the next one, which will be shades of purple for Julia's room. Not sure yet if it will be round or oval, hey, maybe even a rectangle? Not sure if it will be scrappy or have a definite pattern. This is a lot like quilt making, do your own thing!

Thanks again, Finn, for the great instructions and help.........even if I didn't use all your advice!

I can see him playing with his car-cars going round and round and round!

I love it! As soon as I finish my wool rug, I'm planning to finish my rag rug.

Yup! Addicting!

Oh yes, that is something else. Colin will have a ball with it...probably lining up his cars for a NASCAR race of whatever...he will be happy because you make it for him.

I have always wanted to do a rag rug. I like how yours turned out. I read Finn's blog, too, and I have almost made the decision to start one. I have the hook and some directions for making a rag purse. Maybe when I retire I can get one done. Who knows? It will have to be purple, of course!

Hi Norma, your rug is just beautiful!! And it looks PERFECT to me!! You couldn't pay me a nicer compliment than to take an idea and make it YOUR OWN...I love that you 'did' your own thing. I think all you were lacking was someone to tell you that you CAN do it, and there is no wrong way!
You make me proud *VBS* And for the record, many of my strips are hand sewn also, when I want to elimate a color or simply change colors. Almost all of the the one I gave Jean, called "Fiesta" was hand sewn a sandbag full of strips at a time...LOL Big happy hugs, Finn
